The purpose of this trip was to apply for a Canadian visa at the Canadian Embassy in Paris because the embassy in Madrid did not offer this service to non-Spanish citizens. And since I also wanted to visit my friends in Brussels and Antwerp, I decided to fly to Brussels first and and take a bus to the French capital, Paris. A side trip to the Netherlands was also possible. So I went to the sales office of Aerolineas Argentinas and bought a ticket. They had a promotion so I availed of that. It's a one-way ticket Paris-Madrid and I also applied for the Aerolineas plus frequent flyer program and got the permanent card (super cool).
I visited the city upon receiving my visa. Though it was raining I got to enjoy the city too and I even had a river cruise.
The flight to Madrid with Aerolineas Argentinas
It was with MD88 aircraft. This was a feeder flight to Madrid. On certain days the aircraft would bring passengers from London and Paris to Madrid and from Madrid they'd be flying direct to Buenos Aires with Boeing 747. The legroom was limited. And to make it worse I was seated next to a fatty lady. The interior was claustrophobic. The service was good though and the flight attendants were courteous. They were keep on asking if I'd lke some tea or water. I slept most of the time during the flight. When I arrived in Madrid airport, I had to get to the immigration counter and got my passport stamped. AR is a non-Schengen airline and though it came from a Schengen airport (Paris CDG), it was considered an "outsider".
After having fun in Brussels with my Belgian friends, and even spending a night in a Brussels suburb at the place of one of my friend's aunt (thanks for the hospitality), I was invited by my other friend to sleep over his place in Antwerp. So we drove back to Antwerp again for the following morning me and my friend were going to the southern part of the Netherlands. We did not actually have a destination in mind. All I wanted was to see a wind mill and see the typical rural region of the country.
We woke up early and after breakfast, we started to drive to the direction of the Netherlands. The scenery is actually the same as in Belgium. And there were lovely places. We even saw a dutch lady in her native attire walking on the streets. Seemed like she sttended a festival maybe...or she really dressed that way on a daily basis.
I had fun cos I was able to see all the things I wanted to see in the south of Netherlands. ni the evening, I took a bus going to Paris...
